FOUNDER AND PSYCHIATRIC MENTAL HEALTH NURSE PRACTITIONER
Dr. Hailey VanDerLeest, DNP, PMHNP BC
Thoughtful, individualized psychiatric care rooted in curiosity, collaboration, and understanding the whole person.
I take an open minded, evidence based approach to mental health care, creating space to explore not only symptoms, but the experiences, patterns, relationships, and goals that shape your life.
About Dr. Hailey
As a board certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, I believe meaningful mental health care begins with curiosity. I want to understand not only what you are experiencing, but also the experiences, relationships, patterns, and circumstances that have shaped you.
Before becoming a psychiatric provider, I worked in critical care nursing. That experience taught me the importance of seeing the person behind the symptoms and approaching people with compassion, openness, and respect, particularly during vulnerable and uncertain moments.
My approach to psychiatry is collaborative, individualized, and evidence based. I believe treatment works best when you understand your options, feel comfortable asking questions, and have an active voice in decisions about your care.
Medication can be an important part of treatment, but it is rarely the entire picture. I also consider factors such as sleep, physical health, stress, relationships, movement, lifestyle, identity, and the environment around you.
My goal is to create a space where you can be honest without judgment, better understand yourself, and build a treatment plan that feels meaningful and sustainable for your life.
“I believe meaningful care starts with curiosity, creating space to understand who you are, what has shaped you, and where you want to go.”

Getting to Know Me
When I’m not caring for patients, I’m usually drawn toward anything that lets me connect, create, move, or explore. I value depth in conversation and genuinely enjoy learning how other people think, what they care about, and the experiences that have shaped them.
Curiosity is a big part of how I move through life. I enjoy trying new activities, exploring new places, learning, writing, photography, and finding creative ways to express ideas. Music is another outlet for me. I love singing, dancing, and the freedom that comes with simply moving.
Movement has always been an important part of my life. I grew up playing soccer and other sports, and fitness continues to be one of the ways I feel grounded and connected to myself.
I also value experiences that challenge me to see the world differently. I enjoy meeting people with different perspectives, exploring new environments, and continuing to learn about myself and others.
More than anything, I value authenticity, curiosity, openness, creativity, and meaningful connection. I try to approach both life and psychiatric care without judgment and with the understanding that there is rarely only one right way to be a person.
